Developing Sport-Specific Strength examines why and how athletic trainers should train their athletes
in a sport-specific manner. The DVD details why athletic trainers should be concerned about whether
an athlete is strong enough for a particular sport and why it is important to know the difference
between "slow" strength and "fast" strength. The DVD also reviews why it is necessary to focus
an athlete’s strength-training regimen on enhancing the individual’s ability to generate a lot of
force within a relatively short amount of time.
Among the topics covered:
- Defining sport-specific strength
- Load velocity curve
- Stretch-shortening cycle
- Speed of movement
- Eccentric, concentric, isometric
